There is no question that a lot of people enjoy the convenience of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Part of the reason for that is because many of them sport a great roof rack. Here are some tips for using your roof rack effectively:

Step One

You will need to measure your bag or box and ensure that it is durable enough and weatherproof enough in order to withstand the trip. 

As a driver, you are responsible for any objects that are secured to the top of your vehicle. That is one of the reasons why you need to spend some time familiarizing yourself with a few common items that should never be strapped to a roof rack.

Clothing, tarps, tents, and other flimsy items must never be secured to a roof rack unless they are inside sturdy containers. Storage boxes are relatively inexpensive, and they are very easy to secure as long as you have a good set of straps.
